Misleading advertising
The fact that you advertise this as being a usable system for self monitoring is crazy to me. Why would I have to pay the highest monthly amount just to be able to access the system on my phone. I don’t want professional monitoring for the most part but liked that if I was away I could turn that on for a bit. I am on a teachers salary and am incredibly frustrated that in order to get an alert that my alarm has gone off or change the alarm setting on the app, I would need to pay monthly for full professional monitoring. All I want is app access. Crazy that this is how you have it set up.

Simplisafe is not the best system for the money.
I had the first generation system that worked great for 4 years. Then I had to update it with a new chip because I was having problems with the base station talking to the components. So eventually some of the components were having a problem being seen by the base station. So I called, was held on hold for 45 mins when the service rep told me to use a screw driver and take apart the base. So I decided to update with the new system because I had an extra one that wasn't being used. I didn't want to have to keep getting into my tool box every time there was a problem. Now, the new base station has problems seeing some sensors and has a problem connecting because of interference. So I called again and once again, the service rep told me to use a screwdriver to take off the base plate and remove the batteries. So since I have to constantly work on this base station and it keeps having problems, I will go with a more expensive system, wait for the service tech to finally show up instead of dealing with service techs and their screwdriver fetish and that horrible hold music. Do you guys purposely place people on hold for 45 mins with that music loop just to chase customers off?

Speak with someone don't use website
Fill out a request for help and supposed to have someone contact you withing 48hrs. Not the case filled out 3 request for help over 2 1/2 week span. Didn't hear anything until my 3rd request and issue was not resolved.

Terrible experience trying to contact customer service for an order issue. I can’t imagine if I was having an issue with the security system itself.

The cameras do not pick up motion as…
The cameras do not pick up motion as they should. You set it to high sensitivity and it detects nothing, set it to medium and it will detect cars driving past, but not the mailman 3 feet away at the front door. The audio is very laggy so if you are to try to communicate with someone at the door there is a 30+ second delay and it is very choppy. The cameras cut out all the time. Even if I have full wifi strength and no other devices are using the wifi. I see a lot of notifications that there is motion detected, but the video footage is somehow lost. I came home to my front door wide open and could not remember if I shut it or if there was actually someone in my house. Imagine how scary it was being unsure if someone had been in my home. Luckily I just forgot to shut the door while juggling bags and the dogs, but it could have been much worse. To me it is not worth the outlandish price that I paid up front. I'm glad I have 24/7 monitoring in case I need it, but I don't know how accurate that is saying as my products have been unreliable for me personally let alone to someone monitoring somewhere else.

SimpliSafe does not provide billing notice
SimpliSafe does not provide billing notification. They they access to your credit card then charge it without notifying the customer. All other companies I do business with provide notice of auto-billing charges. Not SimpliSafe

No panic button is a downside
No panic button is a downside. Not on the key pad nor on the app. System is quirky. Locks sometimes just don’t work. Very frustrating at times. It’s an ok system. In hindsight would have chosen something more robust.

Back-ordered Equipment
The key-fobs I ordered are on back order. A month later and they still haven’t arrived. I asked to cancel the order and I was told that the order couldn’t be cancelled at this stage, but they also couldn’t tell me when the key-fobs would be back in stock. Very poor customer service!

Simplisafe is Simplitheworst! AVOID!!!
Simplisafe does a good job selling and a terrible job of everything else. I ordered a system for my mom, who lives in another state. I ordered with 2-day, express delivery so that the system would arrive when I was there to set it up. Simplisafe did not deliver on time. They said it was a FedEx issue. I explained that I did not buy anything from fedex. I purchased from simplisafe, so I expected them to deliver. Over the course of the following weeks, I wasted a huge amount to time calling simplisafe customer support. They repeatedly refused to take responsibility, or even just apologize. More than two weeks later, we got a delivery. It was in terrible shape and was incomplete. I sent the whole mess back to them. Bought a Ring system. It was super easy to set up and is working exactly as I had hoped.

The system failed me and created more stress and anxiety than comfort, which is what I was paying for. The employees I interacted with were inexperienced, rude, and lacked knowledge of my system. One called me to tell me there was an alarm, couldn't help with dispatch, and then hung up on me.

Sensor connectivity is bad with the base station and they keep going offline for a period of time. Customer service is worst with over 45 mins of wait time since May.

Sensor issues
Compared to ADT I've had problems with the sensors, I've contacted support and they sent me 2 new sensors but it's the same issue. I'm within the return period and thinking about returning it. For a 4,200 SQ. ft. Brick house it has issues.

Difficult to reach a customer rep
Quite difficult to reach a customer representative. Waiting on hold just to speak to someone after automated messages has taken me +30 minutes.

The folks in customer service need more…
The folks in customer service need more training. When the equipment fails (which is often), customer service struggles to find a solution to the problem. I have wasted hours of my time of the phone with them.

Called customer service at least 20…
Called customer service at least 20 times and only spoke to one knowledgeable person. Cheap components. Got numerous “bad sensor “ alerts. Was on hold over 20 minutes twice. Monitoring plans other than most expensive are not worth it. Returned within 30 days.

Never called me back? Very disappointed.
The representative was great, but I haven’t received the promised call back from a supervisor. Now I need to take more time out of my day to call back myself. Nothing like the better service from other security companies.
