Beware
Beware: the only way to discontinue service is a 30-minute phone call speaking to multiple people, not a 2-factor login to my account page. Inferior product to Ring, and lamentable business practices in making it unnecessarily laborious to discontinue a subscription.
TOLD WOULD HAVE TO PAY ADDITIONAL $1200 AFTER PAYING $1,000 FOR INSTALLATION
I am a senior who signed up with SimpliSafe after I was twice burglarized and several times vandalized. I was not told that it would cost an additional $1,000 to have them installed and solar charged. Unless I wanted to climb unto my roof with my arthritic hips to replace the batteries every four weeks myself. So, I paid. I only had two cameras installed, and the back one did not work. I called to say it did not work and was told I had to pay $200, cash only, to fix it. I felt that was unfair, since it had never worked. Too bad for me. I had to pay. I did. Only to be told it would require another $1200 to install new modems; without the new modems, the camera would not work. Why didn't they tell me that before they charged me the $1,000? I do not know. Did they return the $200, since they did not fix the problem? No. I spent the entire day on chat, and the phone to customer service, only to be treated with extreme contempt. I was made to explain the same thing over and over, they talked tech jargon and seemed to enjoy that I was in distress. Nothing was resolved and in the end, the simply told me to have a nice day.
SimpliSafe has policy of polluting the earth
Simplisafe policy of locking registered cameras that owners have sold and forgot to remove from their account is archaic, anti consumer and a waste of resources because new owner has no option but to throw the camera in garbage where it will end up polluting the earth with toxic heavy metals. Simplisafe is not a green environment company. Their policies are deliberate and by design a severe threat to the environment and people.
Customer service is terrible, copy pasting from scripts...
I have had the SimpliSafe system for maybe 4 months now, the smoke detector went off twice in that and theres no way to turn the alarm off through the app or keypad it just keeps sounding until I get the base station down then unplug and remove the batteries. Customer service is atrocious and goes around in circles copy pasting from a script.
This system is far less superior than the ring alarm system. If they don't get this issue fixed I will do a chargeback and move back to my ring system.
I do NOT recommend anyone to get such a faulty alarm system to keep them or their belongings safe.
Horrible Customer Service
After a long, clueless chat exchange they.could not give me a yes or no answer to a simple question: could I get a replacement part. Easy set up, but HORRIBLE, NONEXISTENT cust9mer service.
Disappointed!!!!!
The batteries to the cameras die way too soon. The sales person told me each battery lasts for 6 months before needing another charge. We've only had this system for a month. The cameras take waaaay to long to "wake up", and by the time they do, someone could already be in my house before ever being deterred. I wanted to like this system, but I just don't and I'm very disappointed with the results only after a month and some change.
Very childish and unprofessional company
Very unprofessional company. They get upset when you cancel the monthly monitoring fee. I paid the monthly fee when I owned a single family home. I sold the home and moved into a highly-secured and safe apartment complex. I didn't need the monitoring any longer and cancelled it. However, I still use the system for the alarm function/ sound, just as a precaution. After a while, Simpli Safe started purposely prompting my alarm on Fridays and Saturday evenings (when I activated it) to state: "Warning, no link to dispatch center". This also makes the light on the base flash. After they realized their childish tactics were not working, they changed from only triggering the alarm to flash only on Fridays and Saturdays to every single day. Simpli Safe thinks this is going to annoy you into calling them so they can try to convince you to start paying them monthly again... as if no one could tell what they are up to. They are highly mistaken. None of that bothers me at all. If and when I ever do need to re-activate my monthly monitoring service, it will not be with Simply Safe. Their equipment will go in the trash and I will take my business to a professional, non-childish company. Karma is a b!*#h, Simpli Safe.
Kept charging even after I canceled
I got lots of devices and a plan with them! All they do is just call you and ask about safe word when an alarm sounds! Assume that's on me not knowing that, I called them and canceled. They kept charging me for another 2 months until I caught it, called them again and they said you never called us we don't have a track of you calling! That was a lie, I had clicked on the number app provided, didn't even type the number, they asked me all the same question they had asked me before and canceled! They're just another thief, stay away don't waste your money! Their sensors are also not good, they keep failing after few weeks.
Buyer beware!
Buyer beware!! We added SimpliSafe to our home a year ago. We also had their smart lock installed so we could easily unlock our door remotely ( it locks the deadbolt). All great until we went in vacation for a few weeks and got a low battery alert. We hoped to get back before the battery expired but figured that we had a key and could easily just open the deadbolt. We 100% wrong. Apparently there is a flaw with the lock and it freezes the bolt. You can not get IN or OUT of the door. We live in a city and have only one door to our unit which is a huge problem, and a FIRE HAZARD!! We had to get a locksmith to break down the deadbolt. Then came SimpliSafe’s customer service. It has been over 6 months and numerous phone calls to various managers and we still have not been compensated for the locksmith bill. They send us a new lock - there is no way we will install that!!
Smart locks stop working with no notice
System worked well for three years, then the smart lock keypad stopped working one night, locking us out of the house as we were returning late from a trip. Had to spend $200 to get a 24 hour locksmith to come, and wasn’t able to contact Simplisafe support because they close at midnight. Calling, was told that I hadn’t updated the firmware, and hadn’t been notified that my system was out of date because I didn’t pay the monthly subscription fee, which apparently can brick the Smart locks without warning. Was also told that I wasn’t eligible to receive any compensation because I was not a paid subscriber. Terrible customer service, would not recommend when there are many other alternatives available .
Had SS for years, tired of it, cancelling, moving on
Was out with wife, date night. Had to cut short, make 40 minute drive back home due to "smoke detector" alarm. I viewed my cameras (Not with simply safe because they theirs don't work.) Could see the detector on camera...nothing shows.
Larger house, full system lots of sensors.
I try to cancel the alarm, which is on their app, and will not cancel!? Now we have abandon our rare evening out, drive back 40 minutes, only to find no reason for the alarm.
I call SS. they ask all the questions of possible reason, all are negative. They are stumped, but don't offer immediately replace the faulty unit.
Then I ask why I could not App cancel the alarm even though a choice on the app. They say only can do this from key pad!? Seriously?? How stupid is that.
Why stupid?
1. Why is it a choice on app if not an option?
2. The siren continues to sound scaring the scrap out of our pets!!!
3. What is someone to do if states away from home, hundreds of miles?
4 Base station only can reset from keypad at home!
5. I paid for the this system, it should be MY CHOICE to cancel alarm, turn off siren, yes??
6. All this should possible from phone app!
ADT is a little more per month, but won't have to find neighbor to shut off system at keypad either!
ADT customer service is horrible
ADT customer service is horrible. I've never dealt with a person who tells you that you can't speak to a supervisor and put you on hold. The representative would put me on hold and tell me to keep holding. They are the worse hands down.
Horrible customer service
Horrible customer service
Untrustworthy and deceitful
We have been with simplisafe 2019 no big problems starting out so we added on other features to our system including an extra tower to self monitor a system for an out building. We was told it would be no extra monitoring fee and would work with their app. Mine you, we live in the country without WIFI so this system was a great option since it worked off cell towers!
Everything has worked great up until this year when they removed the self monitoring option completely as well as now claiming we need to have WIFI!
After over a thousand dollars of equipment in 3 areas of our property we are NOW being told WE HAVE TO HAVE WIFI!!
DO NOT believe NOT HAVING A CONTRACT IS A GOOD THING!
We now have nothing to hold them to yet they force changes on things we can't control!
Also now we have equipment we can't use anymore due to no fault of ours and they REFUSE to give us any money back because we are well past the 60 day "warranty"!!
I HIGHLY RECOMMEND YOU AVOID THIS COMPANY!!
Everything we complaint about not working now was met by, "oh that wasn't what you was supposed to have when you started with us"!!
So we removed it!!
Just and FYI their customer service department isn't in AMERICA, if you want to speak to someone in the US you have to ask to be transferred to one!!
DO NOT TRUST THIS COMPANY!!
Simplisafe devises are unrealable
Simplisafe devises are unrealable. They sold me four devises that failed and now require me to jump through hoops just to get my money back.
Thier customer service is inconsisrant and they do not keep verbal promises.less than a year wuth them only to find out...they are not simple and i am not safe.
First and most importantly, I would not recommend the SimpliSafe System
First and most importantly, “NO” I would not recommend the SimpliSafe Home Security System to family and/or friends.
We purchased our system in October 2023; I gave the system a full six-(6) months in use prior to posting a review, I wanted ample experience with the system so that I gave a fair analysis of the system. We purchased three-(3) outdoor cameras, one-(1) indoor camera, one-(1) doorbell, and twenty-one (21) entry sensors plus the base station and an extra siren. The battery life for the cameras are not the greatest and take approximately five-(5) hours to recharge, I recommend having an additional battery as backup so that you have a spare charged at all times. The cameras do not pick up and/or spool quickly enough to change from the front door to the side door; thereby, the system allows someone to walk around the side of the house without being recognized and/or recorded. Cameras take too long to spool, prepare, and provide a recording; by the time the system does what it needs to in order to post the video, the person at the door has walked away. Many times, the videos are corrupt and unusable. The cameras DO NOT always record, all too often the system does not pick up anything at all and we know this because there are deliveries on the porch, but no recordings are stored on the timeline. Example: Yesterday at 10.02am the camera picked up our outdoor kitty but has not recorded anything since and we’ve had 2 deliveries, I went to the mailbox, parents came to visit and nothing. Finally, the quality of the recordings are not the best.
Entry sensors have “off-line” error messages as if there is a window/door open; however, all windows are closed. Was told to try a restart, only that did not work. The only fix that I have found was to delete and reinstall the sensor.
The siren is not very loud, I was disappointed in the volume and ended up purchasing an additional siren for upstairs so we could hear it at night.
In all fairness, the price is not bad when you catch it on sale and the monthly fee is more reasonable than ADT. The thing that bothers me most is that I also purchased a system for my parents’ home. Knowing what I know now, I would not have purchased the system.
SimpliSafe is a malicious security…
SimpliSafe is a malicious security service company that promotes a 24/7 surveillance culture, similar to China's malevolent and evil facial surveillance system. Imagine a world where you can't go anywhere without being analyzed by AI that monitors you thousands of times per second and reports your activities. SimpliSafe contributes to the unethical, ever-growing, every-square-kilometer surveillance culture of the world and erodes fundamental human privacy rights. Their company should be shut down.

Horrible customer support
Horrible customer support. No one can figure it out. Their home service to come here is another $159./hour.
Simplisafe does not allow you to delete…
If you want to be able to use Simplisafe with Alexa, you can only do this with the top tier monitoring plan. So while the functionality is there, they only allow it with the Fast Protect plan which is their top paid plan. They also have a stupid policy regarding managing credit card info on file (see below). this is a 1-star product
Simplisafe does not allow you to delete credit card info without contacting them. When you manage your payment methods, even though you already have 1 card on file set to default, they retain all old payment methods. A simple 2 min task ends up being a 30 min task. Then you have to validate every card you want to delete. Its the biggest bull crap I've ever seen for a company that makes it that difficult to remove sensitive info, in the age where securtiy breaches are happening every time. Once a breach occurs the only recourse is a free credit monitoring service and a pathetic apology. So makes no sense to insist on keeping more info when a customer wants to remove.
issues, I don't recommend
I like the setup, but here are my issues:
1. The app on the phone does not always arm or disarm my indoor cameras. I have talked with the support team for MONTHS, and they are unable to track the issues or realizes the important of their bug. If the system in away mode does not arm/disarm correct, then it's a major issue. I have call over 20 times with regards to this for months.
2. The system is SLOW. Getting recorded video or live video is slow, and by the time it is viewable, the action on the live is gone
The worst security system
At least any other week one of my cameras and entry sensors are having trouble , I did buy this system for the times that I’m not home . So what’s the point if I should be home to reset my system or call you again and again to get my system to work????
Poor technical assistance
The battery on the outside camera is really poor and it means that I have to go up on a ladder every 2-4 weeks (even though i live at the end of a cul de sac with very little activity) to get the camera down to charge the battery. I've had enough of this, so i phoned to cancel the contract. Nice sympathetic guy who couldn't really offer much apart from getting "technical" to contact me. Waited. No call. I phoned back and was told the lady in technical was going to call me back. That was three or four days ago. Still waiting. Are you going to call me?
Worst customer service experience this year...
The only way to cancel is to call their 800 number. You can't even use chat. Problem is, they don't answer the phone. I am literally having to cancel my credit card to get rid of them.
Quirky and Unreliable
Purchased this system 6 months ago. Indoor motion sensors rarely pick up motion and often disconnect from base station. Recorded video delays due to “wake-up” time render facial recognition iffy, at best (yes, all cameras have excellent connections to Wi-Fi and base station). Setting up the indoor cameras with the QR code is an awfully cumbersome experience. One indoor camera is useless as it never depicted the QR set-up code (yes, all glare eliminated from camera and iPhone screen). Door sensors seem to be the only truly reliable bits of this system. We canceled the monitoring service and now have the basic video recording option, thus the “security system” is used only for video captures. Had extensive conversation with tech service (about an hour’s worth) regarding issues with the indoor motion detectors, to no satisfaction. Overall, our opinion is that SimpliSafe devices are iffy and camera motion detection is quirky. Now relegated to a video system, we are considering a hybrid camera/recording package from another source to replace the SimpliSafe $10 per month funky set-up.

It was great, but not anymore
I gave a great feedback review, and after a while, my service deteriorated. I can’t find a way to communicate this. I have changed my view about their service.
