Simplisafe is not as expensive as some…
Simplisafe is not as expensive as some of the other well known companies. However, when it comes to being worthwhile, it a waste of money. I've been a Simplisafe costumer for year. However, one day my alarm went off accidently... there was no call, no check in, nothing. When I called Simplisafe to ask why they didn't check in, the costumer service agent explained very rudely that Simplisafe outsources all of its local call services to local contractors and Simplisafe is not responsible for their poor performance. I've had a number of other false alarms with no calls or follow-up from them... Don't know why I'm paying for this service.
Watch your back bc this company deceives its customers
I have used simplisafe on an off for approx 5 years. Today, the system took me through a set of prompts when I logged on. I thought my current system was not activated...that is what the pop-up window stated. But, actually, it was taking me though steps to reactivate a location that had been inactive for over 1.5 years!! I tried to deactivate but haven't been able to do so bc I don't have the old safe word. Someone in cancellations said that they went into my account and cancelled but they did not and there were absolutely no records of the call!! I have spoken to 8 people so far!!! They keep saying that they are a security company which is why they need the safe word but they were sure happy to bill me for a nonexistent location without any security whatsoever! I will not use this service when I move to my new place. Disgraceful!!
SimpliStupid
1. their online system was down while I was trying to place an order.
2. I spent 4 hours on the phone trying to get a simple order placed.
3. I paid extra for next day shipping, but still haven't received my order on day #3.
4. I called on day #2 to find out where my order was, and they told me it hadn't shipped yet. I asked when I would get it and they told me that someone would call me with answers later that day. Of course, no one did.
5. I called again on day #3 and they told me that my order was still in processing and I "should' have it by next Tuesday (day #7).
6. I told them to cancel the order and refund my credit card, but they said that the only way they could give me a refund would be to send it back after I receive it. Soes this make sense to anyone? If it hasn't shipped yet why ship it in the first place? The purchase has already posted to my credit card, so I guess they can float the money until they get it back.
7. Unfortunately, I will be away when they say the package will arrive. I wonder if it will still be on my porch when I return? How do you get a refund if you can't return the merchandise?
8. I requested to speak to someone higher up the food chain and was told that someone would call me back by 3:30. It's 3:59 now.
Don't buy anything from SimpliStupid.
This was the worst purchase ever made
This was the worst purchase ever made. This system has never worked. I repeat NEVER worked. The sensors dont go off anymore on some windows and doors. I Haven't even had the system for 2 years I think I may have lost track. I've lost so much Faith in the system and the people that are behind it I have never even installed the outdoor cameras the smoke detector or the sensor for the glass breaking. Also in the box and our brand new. I am trying to get new cameras all of this will go in the garbage. My dog is more of a protector and an alarm than the system has ever been. If I had grounds to Sue this company just for the principle of this system not working to get my few $100 back I would. Cameras that are at least 10 years old and they work better than this system. It alerts of moving in the house which is now just my dog cause my kids are grown and out of the house but they are more reliable than this horrible horrible system I purchased a couple years ago. Camera that I use for inside keep an Eye on my dog constantly is offline it basically gets offline by itself and disconnects. Super unreliable.
Disfunctional after 5.7.0 update - out $3K
Not the security system provider you want.
Though monitoring is cheaper, you pay for it in the end.
Sensors fail randomly and you must take them down, pull the battery, delete them from your system and re-install continuously. If you cook ANYTHING in the oven the smoke detector alarms (had to remove the device after several FD responses - monitoring failed to CALL THE HOUSE).
After the new logo update 5.7.0 the app no longer allows you to login if your mobile device uses a VPN (WORKED FLAWLESSLY PRIOR TO UPDATE). CS was no help or resolution, 5.9.0 update same.
We can no longer access our system on mobile devices or use/view our cameras. Total waste of our time and $$$.
Cancelling monitoring and calling a reputable security system provider.
Don't try to call them if there is an…
Don't try to call them if there is an issue with the system. You will be on hold for at least 45 minutes to an hour while you can't set your alarm. No one answers the phone calls you make to them.
Misleading Installation Costs & Abysmal Battery Performance/ Customer Service
Would give 0 stars if possible.
Ordered a full system with multiple cameras and professional setup through On Tech.
Issues:
(1) Simplisafe does not do professional installation themselves - they outsource to a vendor called On Tech. The issue is that Simplisafe falsely advertises about $125 for system installation. This is why I went with Simplisafe. Post order, you need to setup and pay for installation separately with On Tech. The actual cost for installation was about $500 - a huge difference. This was after I'd placed my Simplisafe order and couldn't cancel it (I should note - in hindsight now that I've seen it installed- it's easy enough to set up by yourself, I was just scared about putting the camera in the wrong location & damaging my siding)
(2) Products took about 4 hours to set up, mostly with my tech and I waiting for the system to respond or update (MANY times). Not a dealbreaker, but not easy. Simplisafe also doesn't post much info on compatibility info, so 5 items I ordered were not compatible with my windows/door and will need to be returned.
(3) Battery life seems nonexistent. After one day of being installed (brand new with full charge) I got two low battery alerts. My camera completely shut down as a result while I was away (how's that for a security system) and an entry sensor is low as well. According to their website, the cameras should last 3-6 months on one charge and the entry sensor ~5 years on one battery. I spent 1.5 hrs complaining to customer service and for most of the time they fought me saying that the camera had recorded too much motion (it recorded ONE person's activities for ONE day on a normal day in the country where there was no other movement - imagine if you were in a city or highly trafficked location).
(4) Customer service is abysmal. See above. I also wasted about an hour with what I thought was an extremely dense customer service rep that was clearly a bot (this was AFTER speaking to a bot upfront, selecting an option to speak to a rep, and the Simplisafe chat confirming that I'd been paired with a "rep". After awhile, it started giving canned responses that just did not make sense.
Works until after the warranty is up
We have had this system for about 2 years. The original owner of the business didn't know how to use the app or any features with it, so I started adding on to the system and actually interacting with it, but the camera won't work right and after days on with tech support, I still don't have any kind of resolution to the issue. The deadbolt key pad is now locking, then automatically unlocking after a min, and the "no hardware" instalation set is a joke at best, nothing actually stays stuck. I have sunk more than 500$ into the system and am truly disappointed in the quality and customer service.
SimpliSafe is easy to install
SimpliSafe is easy to install. The problem is when you want to cancel. It gets worse when you try to have your credit card removed. The company does not allow you to do it and when you call to have it removed they still don't want to do it. I am going to have to go through my bank just to remove a card from my account with the company. Beware!
I wanted to give an update. I called the company again today, July 20th and the lady I spoke with was able to finally remove my credit card.
Held hostage by bad customer service
I have been trying for days to get out of my service with SimpliSafe and they refuse to cancel it. I do not have a contract or anything, just want to turn it off and stop paying them. Got me signed up with the classic free 30 day trial, but once hooked, they won’t let you off easy. The apex of a bad experience with the company. Beware.
Our alarm went off at 12:30am
Our alarm went off at 12:30am. My daughter was asleep walking and went outside. My husband shut off the alarm. According to your records my 82 year old mom lives alone and YOU are her monitoring system. She received a text 5 minutes later asking if she was ok. SHE DID NOT RESPOND! No one called, no one was dispatched YOU DID NOTHING!!! After speaking to 3 people, none of them asking if my mom was ok, or even verifying if I had permission to speak I canceled this “service.” I wouldn’t recommend this for anyone!!!!
The SimpliSafe base station has…
The SimpliSafe base station has disconnected from the internet yet again. I m starting to get annoyed with SimpliSafe lately because I'm finding their system is disconnecting from the internet a lot lately and here I am thinking I am safe in bed and I wake up and the base station has yet again disconnected from my internet for no reason. I've had SimpliSafe for 4 years and the service is so unreliable not just in the UK but also in the EU.
As a Network Engineer, I find it irksome when support tells me my internet is the problem which is just BS because I set up my network I know what I am doing and I have no issues with my network other than SimpliSafe has yet again disconnected from my network as of 06:24 which is when my network logs show that the SimpliSafe base station yet again has disconnected from the internet, as a Network Engineer the first thing that I want to do is fault find the cause of the disconnection so I checked my Cable Modem logs and there are no outages this morning and what annoys me is to reset the base you can't simply just unplug the base you have to get a screwdriver to take the bottom of the base off then remove the battery and wait for 30sec and then put the battery back in and to get the internet to reconnect to the base again...
Well that's such a painful laborious process by the time you have finished you want a stiff drink from the frustration of the base refusing to connect to the Internet. This should be a simple process and don't even get me started on connecting a camera as that is enough to warrant a nervous breakdown.
It is fair to say that the SimpliSafe alarm system is not as simple as the company makes out. The base station disconnecting from the internet regularly is annoying, to say the least, and when support asks me a series of questions at times it feels like they're reading off a script of multiple questions.
I'm starting to rethink that SimpliSafe is becoming more like SimpliUnreliable and I find it irksome when I am told that it is my network when it isn't. I don't have an issue with anything else in my network this is the only device that I have issues with. Does t that tell you something?
The service is crap I can't put it any other way its unreliable and customer service is Mon-Fri no support over the weekend and speaking to them via chat is in the US and not the UK.
UNRELIABLE to say the least! READ BEFORE YOU BUY!!!!
System is unreliable and contacts are constantly disconnecting from the system. One of them fell off the window one day and triggered an alarm!!!!! The only way to restablish a disconnected camera is to be HOME so if you are on vacation or traveling, you will not be able to establish that reconnection until you return to the property in person. ALSO we own more than one home and YOU CANNOT ESTABLISH AN ACCOUNT FOR EACH ADDRESS WITHOUT USING SEPARATE EMAILS AND PHONE NUMBERS!!!!!!! THIS IS RIDICULOUS TO SAY THE LEAST so if you do not have a BUNCH of emails and phone numbers, FORGET SIMPLI SAFE! ALSO their customer service is FRIGHTFUL!
I was super hopeful
I was super hopeful. Their value proposition of monitored security with video verification seemed very promising.
Ultimately, their cameras failed to record at least half of the time or stream much of the time, so how video verification would need possible is beyond my mortal comprehension.
I went back and forth with their terrible tech support for a week. They had me try the same things over and over - claiming it was our internet. I tried them on completely different WiFi networks with two different routers. So unless it was Comcast’s fault, there’s no way it was on our end - especially since the cameras mostly worked fine for the first two weeks.
Garbage.
DO NOT PURCHASE! HERE IS WHY!
I flew for law enforcement for a number of years and was hoping this product would be safe for the family: Horrible product! We keep resetting the video access verification so that Simplisafe can see the video if there is a break-in. Well, it continues to this day being turned off automatically. The video cameras work inconsistently and indoor video cameras come on automatically as if someone from Simplisafe is looking in???!!! DON'T PURCHASE!
Here is the email we get constantly after resetting allowing verification video access and we never turn it off:

Hidden Charges and Difficult Cancellation Process
Hey folks, just a heads up if you're considering SimpliSafe. Yeah, they're cheap, but my experience with them has been a bit of a roller coaster. I stopped using their system over a year ago and tried to cancel my account three times, but guess what? They've been charging me for the past 12+ months. Sure, I could've checked my expenses more closely, but shouldn't a company be clear about their billing? And shouldn't they respect a cancellation request when it's made? The latest twist is that they've promised me a refund for the past few months of charges. I'll believe it when I see it. I'll update this review in 15 days if the refund doesn't come through. So, if you're thinking about SimpliSafe, here's my advice: Be sharp about your billing and remember to remove your card details from their website if you cancel. A cheap service is great, but it isn't worth the hassle if they're not transparent. Fingers crossed they sort their act out.

Need to change banking details and keep getting sent to overseas call centers.
Simplisafe bad customer service
I have paid for premium monitoring at two homes for years. Of course simplisafe offers no discount for multiple locations. Today they cancelled my monitoring at one location with NO NOTICE. I have no idea why. I went to chat on their site and it was taking so long to get help I quit. If I didn't have thousands tied up in Simplisafe equipment I would drop them and go where customer service is important. Beware before buying simplisafe
Scumbag of a company
Scumbag of a company. Cancelled service with Simplisafe, advising both them directly, and notifying my own bank. Despite both actions. Simplisafe are still taking random payments. Not a company to be trusted!
Terribly disappointed and frustrated
SimpliSafe is supposed to be a good security system. I guess I will find out. I am too exhausted dealing with their customer service to try anyone else now. For reasons that I can’t understand it takes forever to look up account information as if they don’t have computers! Repeated attempts and repeated promises for credit not received, hours on the phone, promise of a supervisor’s manager call which never came to get credit for this return, all to no avail. Great return policy but what is the use if you can’t get credit??? Easy to set up, everyone is so nice but on the whole so useless, and it makes me wonder about overall quality when support is so bad. Maybe this will get me attention. Doubt it.
Very unprofessional company Donj
Simplisafe is definitely not worth the money. Have had continual equipment problems but the worst and most stupid thing is you can only have the app on your phone for 30 days then you have to screw around with getting new passwords. You can only have one person on the account If you want your daughter to have access to your account too bad.
Horrible customer service
Horrible customer service. Third-world customer service center with agents that cannot speak English.
My system continually drops cell service and then relies on my wife to operate. That is NOT what I paid for...
This system is in a remote location where there is good cell service because internet is not available. I was eventually able to get cellular wifi, so I could expand my system to include cameras. Now it continually drops the Cell (SIM card) service and my internet is spotty. Which turns my system essentially into junk...
Trying to resolve any of this with SimpliSafe has been a nightmare.
The system is unreliable and cannot be…
The system is unreliable and cannot be fixed remotely so is useless as a security system when you travel. More than once my system has randomly just quit working requiring me to call tech support and then spend a day reinstalling every device and camera. Then while on vacation it happened again and my system was useless and not able to work at all while I was not home. The only solution the company provided was to go back home and reset the base station manually. Obviously the point of spending hundreds on equipment and paying a monthly fee was so that I could leave my house and have it monitored and protected. However, because they cannot fix problems remotely and the system has a lot of problems, then it isn't really useful at all if you ever want to leave your house and have it protected. It is advertised and I purchased it because they describe it as a system you can use away from home, not only while home. But if you leave on vacation and it randomly stops working and deletes all your devices as it frequently does, then it is useless until you get back from vacation. The company also insists on continuing to charge you the monthly fee for monitoring while their faulty equipment isn't working, even though they are no longer able to provide the service they are charging for, due to their equipment being faulty and randomly failing.
Not recommended
Setup is very easy. The advertised camera battery life of 3-6 months is false. I had 4 outdoor cameras. Even on the lowest settings (which essentially makes the camera useless) they died within 4 days.
Customer service is prompt, but poor. They ask the same questions repeatedly and you really won't get anywhere quick. They offered one solar panel to try and remedy one camera dying quickly, then told me Im on my own for the rest.
Nice to be able to control the system…
Nice to be able to control the system from my phone. I never had to deal with a hard wired system, so maybe I’m being harsh here. But their components are sadly unreliable and they have software issues that seem painfully easy to fix. Their cameras inexplicably fail to read the QR code required for setup even under ideal conditions. No glare, trying every possible brightness level on my phone. There is no guidance for how to get unstuck here. On the software side, they have very limited settings available for outdoor cameras. Your motion detection is either on or off and cannot change with system state. So if I’m in my back yard and my system is off, I’m still getting pinged by non-stop “camera detected motion” notifications on my phone. Meanwhile, the camera is almost constantly recording and burning through battery like crazy. The option to turn off motion detection when your system is disarmed is available for indoor cameras, so it seems absolutely wild to me that this isn’t an option for outdoor cams. This seems like a common complaint since the outdoor camera dropped more than a year ago but they’ve done nothing to fix it.
