I had the system for about three years
I had the system for about three years. They had to replace components several times. Spent hours on the phone with agents that are very nice buy have no idea of what they are talking about. You cannot replace knowledge with being pleasant.

Do not trust
Ordered over 500 bucks worth of SimpliSafe security products approximately 2.5 years ago, with professional installation included. They charged me, shipped the product with a scheduled installation. After being charged/receiving, I was informed that professional installation was not available at my location and was assured that I could do myself with SimpliSafe support by phone. I purchased professional installation because I live rural, with unimpressive internet speeds. It was easy to install. I installed base, keypad, and one camera. I get about 8 secs of motion activated video on camera then video failure. Bugs on app from start. Service rep assured me to wait for update, it would fix all. Waited patiently for months, called customer service, told to wait again for update. Called at the near one year mark, spent 2 hours on phone with customer service and finally got app to work. Now, nearly 3 years later, I have one camera that provides about 8 seconds of video per event for 10 bucks a month. I suspected there would be an issue from the start (the reason I paid for professional installation) but let customer service bamboozle me into 3 years of utter hell. When I purchased, I shared my upload/download speeds and advertised Mbs. If you are rural dsl, do not purchase this system unless you know the tech specs yourself. SimpliSafe will sale you falsehoods, either through ignorance or intentional deception.

No way to stop monthly billing without serial.
Never used their monitoring and discarded the equipment. After confirming cancellation of my service over the phone, I was still billed every month. I've spoken to 3 customer service representatives over 2 years who've told me without the serial number on the equipment, they cannot prevent me from being billed every month, forever. So, I've been forced to change my credit card number.

I would give a zero if possible but…
I would give a zero if possible but can't write a review with a zero. When I first installed the system with one outdoor camera, everything worked good. I moved to another city and could not get the outdoor camera to work. After MANY phone calls and hours on the phone with their customer service people, replacing the outdoor camera twice, the camera still would not connect to my WIFI. NONE of my other phones, TV's, computers were having problems. Just the Simplisafe outdoor camera. Their customer service agents were very nice but all of them spoke with a VERY heavy accent and they had me performing the exact same procedures over and over again, to try to get the camera hooked to the WIFI. I finally stopped paying for my monthly service payment and then the problems REALLY started. I eventually took the system down and put it in a box, as it was useless to me. I also wrote to the executive in charge of sales and told him about my experience with their company. That was on April 5, 2023. I have not heard ANYTHING from Simplisafe. I still have a system in a box in a closet. It will eventually go in the trash because it is junk. I would not recommend Simplisafe to anyone. Save your money and get a good guard dog.

Service has deteriorated at SimpliSafe
We are on our 2nd system and thought all was well. We paid for central station monitoring on a monthly basis for over two years. Recently an incident revealed serious flaws in the SimpliSafe monitoring. First, there are little or no questions asked by the monitoring team. No questions about the oveerall appearance of your house. No questions about pets or residents with special needs, illnesses, etc. Second, the monitoring team apparantly guesses at which law enforcement and fire protection organizations are available to respond. IF YOU LIVE IN A RURAL AREA THIS IS CRITICAL! The recent incident I mentioned was the false triggering of an entry sensor. SimpliSafe was unable to reach us as we were unavailable, so they dispatched the police. Problem is while a nearby town is listed in our mailing address, we live a few miles away from that town, out in the county. Local law enforcement for us is the Sheriff's Department. SimpliSafe dispatched the town's police department, who will not respond outside city limits. Third, I have personally noticed that the communications and helpfulness of the SimpliSafe customer care staff has deteriorated, especially the Monitoring Team. BTW, Customer Care will not discuss problems involving monitoring, referring you to the Monitoring Team. It's like they are two separate companies. I have stopped our SimpliSafe monitoring service and I am shopping for a new DIY security company.

Simplisafe has been a disappointment
Simplisafe has been a disappointment. Not only are the outdoor cameras very insensitive - in particular they do not really respect the boundary regions you are allowed to set for motion sensing - but the system is lacking in some very basic functionality (for nor reason since it would be very easy to program). First, it is not possible to turn off motion sensing for all or a subset of outdoor cameras simultaneously. Instead, one is forced to turn each motion sensor off which takes a lot of time (particularly as one has to scroll through several menu items). It is baffling that one cannot establish a "home" or "away" option for outdoor cameras to turn all motion sensing off if. This is particularly useful for people who do a lot of backyard work in the house, or are doing renovations. Second, almost any changes to the settings, including turning motion sensors on/off take several seconds (much longer than in other apps), because you need to "save" them. Third, there is little to no integration with other smart home systems. The website claims to integrate with google home in a very peripheral way (allowing only one to establish away mode via the google home speaker system, but that is about it), yet I cannot even find this as a feature in google home. If you value saving yourself a headache rather than saving money, get another security system.

WOW, You will not find a more incompetant company
WOW! I have never in my life dealt with such an incompetant business. I've been on hold and climbing an endless ladder of supervisors trying to get our issue resolved. The issue? They cashed our check and are not turning on service at one of our locations. This after having been promised two weeks ago by Hiram that the issue would get resolved. I was on the phone with them for 1.75 hours and still no resolution. In that time I have spoken with "N.D.", who muted me (since when do companies only give their initials?), Deanne, Kevin, Michael, Leo, and Edwin (through Leo acting as middle man). Leo ended up merely saying they would file a report because he had no option to turn on service at one of our locations even though all the other seven locations had been turned on based off of the payment made with the same check number. I cannot emphasize enough my encouragement to you to pick any one of the many other similar companies.

Only lasted 2 years.
I purchased Simlisafe security system 2 years ago. The first year was great. The last year not so much. My door sensor stopped working about 9 months ago. There was an update on the app in March after that update my base station would not connect to the app. I tried troubleshooting it with customer service but they were no help. I decided to remove the batteries and leave the out for a hour or so. When I put them back in the base station worked again. Now my Simpicam will not connect. I once again called customer service and they were no help. I was very upset. I paid a lot of money for this system and it doesn't even work. My mom uses Blink which is half the price and has never had an issue.

Monitoring is too expensive and seems useless otherwise
I dropped the monitoring service about one year ago after they kept increasing the price, and just recently tried to install the Simplisafe App for self-monitoring. I was surprised to find that the process required me to essentially reinstall the Simplisafe system afresh. Worst still, the device just hung when it tried to find the wifi network that it had been using for years while I was paying for monitoring. I then looked up other people's experience with Simplisafe and found that many recent reviews are very negative. I now know why.

SimpliSafe equipment is subpar at best
SimpliSafe equipment is subpar at best. We’ve been putting up with it for nearly 2 years. The cameras take forever to open & playback, when they actually sense something, by then the subject is long gone. Many times we don’t get an alert at all. I have very good Wifi & still have door sensor errors intermittently. This is a very entry level system at best.

Simplisafe down - Burglar came; I lost; Burglar won
The battery in the base station was dead. The system was without power for 5 days. The burglar came and had a field day. Several years ago, I received a call from Simplisafe that my battery was low after 7 days. I asked that I should be notified much sooner than 7 days and was told that Simplisafe would do just that. I learned after the burglary that Simplisafe would not call at all for low batteries. I am distressed by the burglar and spent 48 minutes on the phone with two individuals with semi competent English. They were loquacious but the English was inexact. They said, "I am sorry." but what about a solution. The second person, the supervisor told me that I would get a call on Monday, 4/10/23 from a specialist, which is unavailable on the weekend. The specialist never called. I called on 4/11/23 to speak with Marisol. She was actually much more competent than the others. We were on the phone for almost 2 hours. I explained that Simplisafe did not abide by its agreement, did not notify me of the burglary, did not have a specialist call me as promised, and did not even tell me accurately whether my system is on battery early on 4/12/23. Adding fuel on fire, the agent before Marisol hung up on me. Marisol reached the specialist and I was told that the specialist would not speak with me until I have a physical copy of the report. I am most distressed by the hassle.... 3-4 hours of hassle..... I shared with Marisol that I do not appreciate people telling me that they are sorry when no actions to remedy the situation is provided. Most disappointed -- SimpliSafe is not safe. SimpliPathetic.

Used to be good now terrible
Rub run run away from this company Used to be good. Terrible now. Every day for the last month I get new notifications that multiple sensor aren't working. For the last 3 days as I am travelling I have spent over 4 hours getting this sorted to find 2 not connecting again tonight. Pls avoid at all costs. I am about to travel and now know i can't trust the system to keep my house safe . Updqte ; Things have gotten even worse. Customer service people might be nice but I'd rather a system that works and customer service who know what they are doing. Absolute disgrace . I've spent half the day trouble shooting , after useless calls just did it myself. Have no faith in this system

I would have given no stars but I would…
I would have given no stars but I would not be able to write a review. The system worked great until I moved to another home. After re-installing the system at a new location, I could not get the outdoor camera to work properly. I have spent HOURS on the phone with their customer service people. The camera has been replaced twice and the last camera would not even connect with the base. I have decided the camera system is useless. Think twice before you buy their product. You pay for everything up front and if it doesn't work, you OWN it.

This company is terrible
This company is terrible. Their support team is unreachable and is in India. Their software is buggy and slow. Their devices are unreliable - I've now had to replace every single piece of equipment and I've been a customer for 18 months. Do not buy from them. Go with something like Ring, Eufy, or a more legit security system like ADT. Ignore the podcast advertisements

Simplisafe is not honest and keeps terrible records
I have three components of my security system that are faulty. I contacted Simplisafe to resolve. Testing was completed and it was determined that new sensors needed to be sent out. Since I called on a Saturday, the technician said that someone would have to call me the next Monday to get the products sent out. I waited until Wednesday for a call and there was none. I called them to see why and they had no record of any testing or any promise to send out new sensors. I was told I would need to start over with testing before the sensors could be sent out. I work and am not able to go home to perform testing, especially if it does not lead to resolution of my issues.

Poor product and customer support. Buyer beware!
It took 2 phone calls to find out that the battery they supplied in a 3 week old sensor died.(company says they last 3-5 years) Company says that's not their problem.. Insulted me by saying it's only a dollar.. That's not the point. Back up your product!! The customer shouldn't have to fix you sending out old or low quality batteries. Sending the whole thing back. Attitude and knowledge of support team is poor. I'm going to find a better company and product

Avoid Simplisafe if you ever think you'll need to change your address!
If you don't plan to change your address, this system will work perfectly. BUT if you change your address there will be problems. About 4 years ago, I bought their 1st generation system. Worked great. Then, 2 years later we moved. I took the system with me. I installed it in the new address and it worked fine. But I had issues trying to change my address in my account on the website. I called and they informed me they can enter my new address (I am not allowed to do that), but also they can't delete the old one. So after some time on the phone, the new address was entered. In your account, it keeps asking you if you want to re-activate the old address which I don't know why you just can't delete it. Everything got working but then we moved again. After moving again, I decided to upgrade to the new generation system. I put it in and it worked great. Then we moved again, (yes I know, why did you move so much? That is another story). I had brought the system with me and installed it. Nothing worked. I got on the phone with them and they told me I needed a new cell phone module which they sent me. It came with clear directions on how to install it. After about an hour fooling with it, it was clear the module was not the right one. I got on the phone with them and after about an hour of debugging, they told me I had the 1st generation system which the module was for. I told them I had bought from their website, a complete new system with sensors. They had no record of that. There seemed to be nothing they could do as they had no record of the new system, yet, in the old house it worked fine. This was very frustrating. They were nice, informed help, but were powerless to help me. So I had to cancel my service. They continued to bill me and I had to call and cancel a second time. To add insult to injury for about a month, I kept getting emails that I had not yet installed the cell phone module and to do that. This is kind of a long story but beware. If you ever think you will move in the future, I would use a different security company.

Ordered a whole house Simplisafe system…
Ordered a whole house Simplisafe system and have been trying to get installation set up. Called Customer Service to see how to set up installation and they gave me a phone number for On-Tech services. Tried calling multiple times and the number and here is what we get: Either: “We are experiencing an internal systems issue that should not impact your service .. our systems are being worked on.. etc “ OR “Thank you for calling Dish, our agents can assist you with making payments, ordering pay per view or on…c….” SO DISH NETWORK Called customer service back and they said that the number we were given 1-888-252-5629 is correct. They put me on hold and verified that Their phone number was having issues and how we handle was to continue to call every day until fixed. Been almost a weeks since we first tried to get set up.. .this cannot be right but we have no other number to call.. they even said this is THE ONLY WAY to set up service for installation. I called back and now they say they do not actually have installation services.. the company they hired to do it isn’t responding/functional. They said we can install it ourself. Maybe the inside ones - but not the roof. We are older not able to get up on a ladder and install own. So now we find someone else to do it or send the system back. Truly bizarre and awful experience.

Company is a scam! Refuses refund!
Summary: (1) On February 6, 2023 an order was accidentally and erroneously placed with Simplisafe for $442.76. Order number 25953284 (2) On February 8, 2023 I called Simplisafe explaining what happened and asked if I could refuse order. I was told no and that I would need to use their label to ship it back. ( usps) I received the item. (3) I was informed a full refund would be issued within 7 business days. (4) On February 10,2023 it was returned. Box was never opened. (5) It was delivered and received by Simplisafe on February 13,2023. (6) On February 23, 2023 I called Simplisafe to ask what happened to the refund. I was told to be patient a few more days. (7) On February 27, 2023 I called Simplisafe once again and was told it has been forwarded to an escalated team as they don’t know why it’s not been refunded. (8) On March 3, 2023 I called Simplisafe one last time and was told “ there must be a processing glitch” and it cannot be refunded!!! I was also told the escalating team will try but no promises can be made!! This is a scam. They’re purposely not refunding me. I’m demanding not only a full refund from Simplisafe but also with any finance charges accrued after the initial seven days.

Made the Wrong Choice
Choosing Simplisafe was one on the worst decisions I could have ever made. I chose them because I liked the sound of some of the equipment options (glass break sensor, extra siren, and the solar panel charger for the outdoor camera); but within 3 months, my camera battery went out completely (so the solar panel doesn't work), the extra siren is constantly offline and uses battery power way too quickly, and now the video doorbell isn't working. Thank God I have other non-Simplisafe cameras in the front and back of my home, otherwise I would have no exterior security protection. I haven't even had Simplisafe a year, barely 5 months, and I'm having all these problems. I called for help with the backyard camera, and all they did was pass the buck to Ontech, because they installed my system. They tried to say that the solar panel may not be plugged into the camera, but I verified that it is, and it gets plenty of sunlight where it's located. They take absolutely no ownership over their faulty equipment and service. If you installed it yourself, they imply that you installed it wrong, if you use their installer Ontech, like I did, they imply that Ontech installed it wrong. I will tell anyone who will listen to use another security provider, because Simplisafe is the absolute worst. Even if you have to pay more with ADT, and other competitors, it's worth it to ensure that you have quality equipment and service. They also make it very hard to contact their corporate office, but I'm not going to stop with my attempt at escalating to the higher ups in their organization, even if I have to take legal action. They are a complete rip off, and I'm going to share my experience every where I can.

I had been a satisfied user for so long…
I had been a satisfied user for so long that when they changed to a new generation they gave me the system for both of my houses. I have had multiple problems ever since with having two base stations that did not work and multiple sensors that went bad. But the most frustrating problem has been that the system stops working and cannot be trouble shooted except at the keypad. This has happened three times while I was out of the country. The system tells me to call Simplisafe and I call every day and get a different response from their support by people who have little knowledge of the devices. As it turns out they send out unsolicited updates that you need to install for the system to work and you have to install and reset your base system. What good is an alarm system that will not work unless you are there. If I was there I would not need an alarm. I have also had billing problems where they upgraded my monitoring without my approval. Right now they just changed the charges on one of my properties without any notification and now tell me they are working on a billing issue. I think the company has grown too fast to do a good job.

Bad quality control
I honestly believe they sent me used or refurbished parts as “new” almost every device has issues. Cameras don't work. I would not feel safe in the event of an intruder with my current system, all at the cost of near $900 plus an extensive membership fee

Simplisafe’s cameras are total trash
Simplisafe’s cameras are total trash. They rarely detect movement. When I try to “launch” the camera to check on things, they take several minutes to wake up, and that’s if they wake up at all. On the off chance that they do catch movement, it’s 5-10 seconds after it’s happened, and the bad guy is already gone and almost out of the shot. We will be returning this to Costco.

Unreliable. I go out of state for several months. Cameras or base station seems to always go off line. There is no other way to remotely put the system back on line. You have to physically be there to reset base station or camera. This is useless when I’m out of state and really need to rely on the system.
