Tried to downgrade, took 3 phone calls and an hours on the phone. When I was finally able to, it made me resetup my whole system. Then it made this system unusable.
Simplisafe equipment doesn't perform consistently
Simplisafe equipment doesn't perform consistently. They have replaced one window sensor three times and it still remains in "Open" status which means it will not detect an intrusion. I have been on the phone with their staff for a total of six hours without a successful solution. Previously, they replaced defective sensors in an expedient manner but parts swapping isn't a substitute for deep product knowledge and troubleshooting skills. Having phone center staff read down a list of potential solutions doesn't cut the mustard anymore. The reps refuse to elevate the problems to senior staff. I had been generally satisfied with the company for three years but their customer service has significantly declined. It's time to engage a local monitoring company.
Pathetic customer service
When it came time for my daughter to move in to her own place, I ordered a system to make all of us feel more comfortable. However, when it arrived, the base was defective. Even after she spent 1 1/2 hrs with customer service determining it was faulty, they have not shipped a replacement, and even had the nerve to send the defective base back to her saying she used the wrong label.
Plain and simple, you pretend to care about your customers safety, yet pathetically fail to show it! How dare you wait for your defective garbage to send a replacement!!
Product is great, until the batteries die.
The product is a great option for those trying to set something up without the monitoring and helps keep track of doors opening and closing around our pool/home. HOWEVER, their keypad (once the batteries die) fritzed out and didn't work properly with new batteries. There is something seriously wrong with the design and you can search the net with plenty of people having issues with the keypad after battery changes. They tried to have me reset and all that and then tried to have me buy another keypad. I declined. They should stand by their product better. With all that said the app and equipment worked and set up just fine, hence the 2 stars.
Bad batteries in a month
I purchased my system in November 2022. At the end of December 2022 I am awakened at 1:30 am with a smoke detector beeping. I tried to reset to no avail. I called SimpliSafe and found out there is no tech support after midnight. I called the next morning and spoke to tech support and they remotely looked at the system and stated my battery was low. I asked if their batteries only last a month??? The tech said to go to the hardware store and buy new batteries. I asked if this is not a warranty item and he said they don't have any batteries to send me. He offered a free month of monitoring for my inconvenience. I never thought there would be issues this soon.

I have contacted customer support at least 4 times over the past month regarding BROKEN and DEFECTIVE products that they shipped me and they have taken NO ACTION, except to say someone will contact me.
Not worth it
Pros- Easy to install, helpful customer service, no contracts, reasonable fees.
Cons- it doesn’t work worth a damn. The cameras only record on motion (and I can stand directly in front of my cameras and not a damn thing records and yes, I’ve talked to customer service about this), glass break sensor doesn’t go off when glass breaks, the only sensor that does work is the door-window sensors. If anything happens in or around my house I can depend on SimpliSafe cameras to completely miss it. I could be being beaten to death in my front yard and the cameras won’t record a thing. Had I known that I would have never bought it. If I want continuous recording I have to buy another system (which I did, a Night Owl which works beautifully), no plan offers continuous recording so buying a camera is useless.
Bad product and bad service - just don't do it
I am beyond disappointed with my SimpliSafe system and with the customer service, or lack there of, I've been provided any time I've had an issue. I swear I did tons of research about security systems before purchasing one and SimpliSafe appeared to be the best DIY system; but now I'm coming across many negative reviews with complaints similar to mine - I have no idea how I missed it. Anyways, I've had my system only about two months now and it is just terrible honestly, specifically the cameras. Immediately after installing I was already having issues - the cameras disconnect constantly, if I do get alerted that motion is detected many times it does not capture a recording, if I click on a camera motion alert immediately it takes ages for the camera to actually load, so if something was really happening, by the time the view opens I'd never catch what was going on in time. The battery life on the outdoor camera is trash, the website says it lasts months, I'd say it'll last 2-3 weeks at most at any given time. I received a replacement outdoor camera and I still have the same issues. On top of their system just not working, their customer service is garbage. Any time I have an issue it is unreasonably difficult to get it resolved, if it gets resolved at all. If you try contacting them via chat, after an endless back and forth they will always end up making you call. Their website says you have 60 days to test out the system; it was not clear to me that it is 60 days from purchase, but I was not able to install my system right after purchasing because my move to my new home was delayed, so when I contacted them to request to return my system after about 3-4 weeks of actually using it they told me I wasn't able to as it had just passed the 60 days from purchase. I get it most people will install their system right away after purchasing, but I was trying to plan ahead for my move and ended up paying the price for it - literally, because the equipment is not cheap. It was extremely frustrating that no exception was made in my situation, when they can clearly see when the system was activated; all they offered me was one month of free monitoring, which I still haven't gotten. Also, I returned some extra equipment that I had ordered after the fact over a month ago and have yet to receive my refund and when I contact them they are once again no help. I'm so frustrated because I spent a lot of money on my system and frankly don't feel safe with it, but I can return it and I can't just drop money on a new one, so I'm stuck. I'm just annoyed I didn't find these bad reviews prior to spending all the money. Long story short, go elsewhere, I know Ring cameras are much better, or if you can it's probably worth it to just fork up the money for a service like ADT.
No way to cancel service online
Not recommended as it is painful to cancel. You can't cancel online and have to sit on the phone and go through multiple transfers.
Owned SimpliSafe system for over a year…
Owned SimpliSafe system for over a year now, do NOT waste your money. This system is hands down the worst security system I’ve ever had In my life. On the most sensitive setting and doesn’t alert me when a delivery person walks directly in front of the doorbell camera and places a package directly beneath (however I get notifications every 5 seconds only to find nothing at all on the alerted recording). This is the 2nd doorbell camera, got the first one replaced for not detecting delivery men walking directly up to camera as well and having packages magically appear under my camera without any notification nor recording what so ever. Complete trash, Amazon $100 blink system worked better than SimpliSafe.
Awful system
I bought SimpliSafe video doorbell, 2 outside cameras and sensors for all my windows. After 3 years I can honestly say SimpiSafe is awful!! The video doorbell and cameras go offline all the time . As first I was told it’s the WiFi, then I was told I needed WiFi extenders( got 2). Then when I called twice to have them check the system since the cameras were off line yet again - without asking me first - they deleted ALL of my security system and then I had to reinstall EVERYTHING!!! This system is NOT RELIABLE and the support reps are useless. I would NEVER recommend this system. But after spending over $1,000 on it - I’m stuck !! Do your research and find another company.
Do Not Waste Your Money on this
Although the alarm portion seems to work ok the cameras are absolutely worthless. They take forever to “wake up” as they call it and it’s a hit or miss if they record the outside activity. For someone who depends on the camera portion of an alarm system this is absolutely junk. They say they are “working “ on a software update regarding this but being they’ve been around a while and have known about this issue and that it’s still not addressed suggests they are blowing people off with this statement.
We are going back to RING as their cameras are immediate. This was a waste of our money! I suggest if you are looking at this system for yourself then look elsewhere.

Avoid. Total nightmare to set up.
The cameras are the biggest sore point. They have to connect your internet router - they don’t connect to an extender. So no point in getting more than 1-2 cameras as they won’t attach to your network (the camera’s Wi-Fi/ signal is very very poor).
Setting up internal cameras - you have to scan a barcode in your phone with the camera - I tried for hours to get these working no joy - one day I got One working then a few days later another but hours upon hours wasted - with a 1000 different angles… I just changed my internet provider and have to reset up the cameras - oh boy day 3 and still not got 1 connected. When the new internet folks set up the system they did some drilling and set off a smoke alarm. It was so loud I didn’t hear Simpli safe calling me and because of that they’d called fire and police - I called them back within a minute after seeing the missed call and they said they’d cancel but the police arrived 5 minutes later and 3 fire trucks a few minutes after that. I’m told this is going to cost me as I’ll get billed by the fire and police departments . The cameras were working fine so they could have just taken access and seen there was no fire!! - ugh… time to change to ring!! The frontier guys said they wished the police response was so fast in their area :-)
Predatory company
Predatory company. I never set up my SimpliSafe system after receiving it as a gift over two years ago. Somehow, I have been charged $20/month for over two years.
When I went to go into the app, I had never even set up my system. But they were still taking the money. Sure- could have been a hiccup on my end, but how are they charging someone who doesn’t even have a system setup?

Can’t get ahold of any one on the phone. The product they send doesn’t work. They claim it’s the easiest set up when in all reality it’s hell to set up. They claimed I got free professional set up then asked me to pay $100 to have professional set up. All in all I am completely unsatisfied with this product. The installation process has been a total disaster. I followed the instructions to install the sensors, cameras, etc., and some window and door sensors are not working. After spending almost 4 hours on the phone with a technician located in Costa Rica, it was concluded that the sensors and the base were defective. Consequently new sensors and a base were shipped to me and received today, but and I am having exactly the same issue as before. Another technician located in Costa Rica helped me for about 2 hours. We installed and re-installed the sensors with no success. Unfortunately the call was disconnected and she never called me back. I called and when I was in the middle of the call with another technician located in Costa Rica, the call got disconnected. The guy never called me back. This is t total disaster. The technicians have been kind during the calls but my issues have not been solved. The SimpliSafe in my case is a total disaster and I don’t recommend it at all. Unfortunately, I got rid of my old alarm system and company and I regret it. Pin me if you want to know additional details.
The motion sensors just don't work
The motion sensors don't work, period. Within four weeks, I replaced all of them, and they still do not trigger an alert half of the time, and one of them has triggered a false alarm in the middle of the night. Beyond that, I have no complaints, but who feels safe with a alarm system that won't work when you really need it?

Simpli not great.
We got SimpliSafe through our insurance for discount purposes. I set up part of the system just for the free trial and didn’t realize I was being charged after the free trial for several months. I never received a notice of charges set to occur. I called in after seeing one hit my account and the agent was helpful and told me that they would reverse the all charges since I did not authorize charges after the trial. I was charged for 11 months and only saw 5 get reversed. I called in again only to be told they can’t go back to October of 2021 when the first charge occurred to reverse so I have to lose money on a system I never used. I also saw that I was charged $3 additional per month after the first 4 charges. It’s unfair to be told I would get refunded for unauthorized charges than to be told I can’t because you have a system that doesn’t allow reverse charges up to a year back. The experience was not great during the trial and ended the same way. I won’t recommend this company to anyone and will be posting reviews on additional pages to ensure people are aware of your customer service capabilities and the fact that your system is not that great.
Terrible service
Terrible service. Paid $15 for 1-3 business day delivery, 5 days later still no system. One customer service agent said that time starts after the warehouse packages it and gets a shipping label. Another agent said after the carrier gets it, then the time starts. The date slides for their excuses. 1-3 business days start at the time of the order!! After reading all of the bad reviews about their outdoor camera delays and this shipping issue, I don't even want their system!!
DO NOT trust SimpliSafe to protect your home & family
I purchased a SimpliSafe system 2 years ago after a friend raved that it’s the best and easiest system she’d ever owned (she has since replaced it with a Comcast system…). My purchase over the phone was easy and the representative was friendly/knowledgeable. However, after about a year, the system began malfunctioning multiple times nearly everyday. Since then, I’ve made at least two dozen calls to customer service and technical support, and I still have the EXACT same problems today. The sensors go offline, cameras drop connections, alarm triggers minutes after doors are opened, motion detectors work when they feel like it, etc, etc… The customer service experience I initially had was great, but since, I typically get someone who’s first language isn’t English, making communication very difficult. The rep troubleshoots the problems and the system works again, only to malfunction within hours. I’ve replaced multiple sensors, batteries (after just weeks of use), motion detectors, etc, etc, and the system still fails. SimpliSafe never offers any discounts or reimbursement for their failed system and my troubles (constant troubles). I have to ask and they reluctantly give me a free month of monitoring… I’m in the process of replacing SimpliSafe’s failed system. To anyone considering a SimpliSafe system, DO NOT purchase, as my experience is very common and why would we or should we trust our homes’ and families to this company.

Simplisafe without a doubt provides the worst customer service of any company, including Comcast / Xfinity They ship product to the wrong address, they claim to ship product when it does not ship. Their staff while courteous, has no idea what they are doing. I would not buy Simplisafe.
SIMPLISAFE SCAM NIGHTMARE!
If there was a zero option, that would be too high for this company. We were paying 9.99 for just a doorbell feature on our home. We decided to go with a new system and needed to cancel the service. We called, outsourced customer service (the language barrier was apparent & hard to communicate) none the less we thought it was cancelled. Our credit card continued to be billed. We tried canceling through the app and website. There IS NOT an option for doing this. We called again, US customer service this go around, we had to provide the security number on the device itself.
Remember we swapped systems….we asked should they have that info themselves…no we needed to be provide it in order for the cancellation. Long story short, we had to cancel the credit card to get rid of this parasite company.

We purchased the door sensors the station, the camera and the sensors on the inside . You're allowed to see it on your app but you cannot see any of the recordings unless you pay them per month to do so so all the money you spend on the system nothing works unless you pay them money not a good system to buy. There are other systems out there that don't require monthly payments to get your security.
