Annoying water sensors
My water sensor went off in the middle of the night. I am fine with getting alerts, but the problem is they have an automated system call. I ignored the first one, then answered because it called back right away. My washing machine has had a problem where I had to turn the water off because it uses so much water, but I was not able to tell where it was leaking. Now it must have gotten worse. The next night at midnight I received alerts and again the 2 phone calls. I ignored both calls, but then my mother ended up getting the calls. It woke her up in the middle of the night and she ended up not being able to go back to sleep that night. The first time there was water, but I moved it farther away from the water and it still goes off at different times. I just received another phone call, so figured I might as well answer it because it will end up calling my mother again. I listened to the first message, then hung up. All of a sudden I get a second phone call that is different from the first. I think they have 2 different phone calls with 2 different messages vs 1. Better idea is not to call me at all for a water sensor unless I want a phone call, then have an option for that. So annoying. I understand why they do it, but it is a pain. Either do it and say press 1 if all is ok or at least leave a voicemail. I may try to find another company that sells them where they won’t constantly harass me with phone calls.

Pathetic Service!!!I
I purchased this product with the guidance of your online chat consultants. They gave me the wrong information. I was told I could buy this via Amazon and it would work in South Africa. I had to wait as only bits arrived at a time. Now I have it all but can't use it as I cannot get a verification code as I do not have a US or UK number. They mislead me. I paid a lot of money for this but cannot use it! I can't even return it as it arrived over a period of time. I am really very disappointed and upset. Your consultants need to give correct and reliable information and not mislead potential buyers! Very bad service!!!!

I completely regret buying the system
I completely regret buying the system. It's built cheap, its goes offline consistantly and getting back online is basiclly reinstalling the unit that is not responding. Customer service just follow prompts and don't listen to the customer. I bought almost everything Simplisafe offered.. Complete waist of money and especially my time.

No one's safe with Simplisafe
Absolute scammers and grifters! Their products are nothing but cheap gimmicks! Their cameras CONSTANTLY lose connection! Their customer service are a bunch of know nothings! They want to blame your internet provider for any issues you experience. That is NOT the case. They are OK to take your money but not offer solutions to problems, only redirect you elsewhere! STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

UNRELIABLE SYSTEM
The system worked fine until we passed the 60 day return window. Now both of the cameras stop recording frequently. We have to unplug the camera when I notice it has stopped recording, which at times has been several times a day. Customer service has taken me through numerous steps in an attempt to correct the problem. They even sent me a Wifi booster which didn’t solve the problem. One rep had me climb up on a ladder (I’m in my seventies) unplug the camera, take it in the house and set it down. Then I was told to hide from the camera bla bla bla. After 2 hours on the phone with the rep, my issue was not resolved! I read numerous complaints from other people who are having the same issue. I have come to the conclusion that SimpiSafe DOES NOT KNOW HOW TO FIX THE ISSUE. So we have to live with an unreliable system. I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS SYSTEM/COMPANY!

Simply awful customer service
Simply awful customer service! I had been a customer for several years but in February (6months ago) I cancelled the service through the app. Recently I noticed that I still had the system connected to power. I disconnected it. I then started getting warning messages that the system was no longer responding. Thought that was odd. I called them and asked why this was happening. I found out they continued billing me. Yes, shame on me for not noticing the charge to my card. They had stopped sending me statements, so, I thought they stopped billing me. I called their support and got someone who was in an offshore call center who could only speak from a script. I tried their chat help, which was useless. I finally got someone who spoke English on the phone. They claim they did not cancel my account because they claim they tried to call me 3 times and left 3 voicemails to confirm. That never happened. I am still trying to get my money back currently. I would stay away from this company. They are great when you sign up, but service after that is awful

Must pay for basic push notifications
FREE is very misleading. Beware - if you want the most basic functionality from the app, such as getting a notification that your alarm has been disarmed, you have to pay $10/month for it. That was not clear on the site when I signed up. Other systems, such as Abode, do this for free. I read everything - wanted to be really sure I understood it all before I spent the money on the equipment. Now they demand a monthly fee just to tell me my system has been armed or disarmed.

(Once Again) - SimpliSafe has raised its prices every year for the last 4 years. I contacted them today to inquire, and all I received was canned responses and no effort to discuss the issue, seek alternatives, etc. I truly understand raising prices (i.e., inflation, etc.), but every year? Seriously? Nothing for loyal long-term customers? I will never recommend this company to anyone, and will immediately start searching for an alternative.

Canceling subscription and buying a Rottweiler. They keep increasing subscription cost, im over it and throwing this mediocre system in the garbage.

SimpliSafe charged me for 6 months of…
SimpliSafe charged me for 6 months of monitoring service after stopping their service, and none of their equipment was connected! It is damn near impossible to cancel the SimpliSafe monitoring service. I sold my home and disconnected my SimpliSafe equipment. I called SimpliSafe to stop the service. The agent said they could “pause” service instead of stopping. I thought that was okay because I took the system with me and might reinstall it later. However, I did not know the agent had put a 90-day timer on the “pause”, which would automatically restart billing to my credit card. I wouldn't have agreed to the timed restart since I was relocating and planned to spend a year searching for permanent housing. The word “Pause” was SimpliSafe’s sneaky way of hiding that they could restart charging you without sending you an email, without you reconnecting the equipment. SimpliSafe charged my old, saved credit card for 6 months when the equipment was never connected back to the system. The reason I used the work “sneaky” was: (1) I checked my emails, and SimpliSafe never emailed me to tell me they were restarting billing; (2) the monitoring service restarted and ran for 6 months without any equipment connected—in other words, they charged me for services they never provided; (3) I never told SimpliSafe the date to restart the server and when I cancelled I thought it would a year before I had a new home; (4) speaking with customer support let me know that that “pause” was a game SimpliSafe played and the agent was not able to give any refunds, plus there was no supervisor to escalate to. Fortunately, Chase refunded the last three SimpliSafe charges—Thank you, Chase Bank!

Poor support
Poor support. Couldn't find how to cancel old credit cards. Can edit but not delete. Tried online chat. After long time back and forth for unnecessary chat, after already asking my question. Was told to click a link to enter more info. Entered info, then was told to go back to chat, but there was no way to go back to chat without starting over with a new chat.

Simplisafe raises their rates often
Simplisafe raises their monitoring rates by $1 almost every year. They think customers won't notice. The rate increases are much higher than inflation and some of the people you deal with on the phones don't speak english very well. And the equipment has a lot of issues that require you to spend a lot of time on the phone with customer service as they try to walk you through attempts to correct it, unsuccessfully.

Absolute Junk
I paid $150 for a camera I later found on Amazon for $30—so, yeah, that stings. The support team? Practically nonexistent. On the bright side, I’m not stuck in a contract... so there’s that. I’ve used Brinks, ADT, and just about every other “premium” alarm company out there. Spoiler alert: they’re all varying levels of terrible. At best, SimpliSafe is the least awful of the bunch—basically the gold medalist in the trash Olympics. If you really want a functional setup, skip this circus and go build your own system using Google hardware. At least that way you know what you’re getting. Because honestly, this stuff? Completely useless.

Critical Feature Removed Without Notice — Safety Risk & Poor Communication
I’ve been a SimpliSafe user relying on their original outdoor cameras and monitoring services for home security. Recently, after upgrading to the Core monitoring plan, I was shocked to find that the two-way audio (microphone/talk) feature on my original outdoor cameras was silently removed and now only works with their newer Outdoor Camera Series 2 on higher-tier Pro plans. This crucial change was never communicated to me before or during the upgrade. Because of this, during a real security incident at my home, I was unable to use the two-way audio to communicate through the outdoor camera when an unknown person was pressuring my wife at our front door. This communication failure created a serious safety risk and undermined the core purpose of having this security system. SimpliSafe’s lack of transparency on this significant feature removal is deeply disappointing. While emergency dispatch and video monitoring still work on the Core plan, the loss of two-way talk on existing hardware feels like an unfair paywall and hardware lock-in that compromises user safety and trust. I urge potential customers to carefully consider this before upgrading and recommend that SimpliSafe improve disclosure and customer communication around critical feature changes that impact security.

Company is a joke. Products are trash. Solar Panels do not keep cameras powered as their website and sales department claim. Outdoor cameras are pretty useless. It takes 5mins to wake up the camera for live viewing. Recordings get interrupted or do not record at all. Customer service is pretty non existant. I was barely assisted by their 24/7 online staff. Unhelpful and shows an unwillingness to care about their customers. Prices are outrageous for how aweful quality and services and products they offer. Buyer beware! This company is nothing but a gimmick!

Never Again.
Never buying one of these systems again. The types of companies that use "planned obsolescence" piss me off. Rendering certain parts of my system unusable, WHEN IT HAS ABSOLUTELY NOTHING TO DO WITH YOUR STUPID NETWORKED SYSTEM, I'M NOT USING YOUR DUMB F-ING MONITORING, suddenly I need to upgrade devices? So they basically flipped a switch, I had done no updates on my controlling devices/apps. BUILD YOUR OWN SYSTEM, ARDUINO IS THE WAY, IT'S EASY.

Horrible customer service
I have had SimpliSafe system for 4years. I love the system. I hate their customer service. Whether through text or phone conversation plan for at least a 60 minute conversation after the initial hold time. The reps always put you on hold. Tonight I asked for a supervisor and the rep made me feel like I wasn’t allowed to speak to a supervisor. Supervisor gave usual BS speech. I doubt it will go anywhere. Rant done

Do Not Buy This Product – Please Read! It Wastes Your Time and Money!
We bought a SimpliSafe monitoring system when we moved into our new house, based on the “Simple” advertisements we saw on TV. The system worked fine at first, but then started having issues. After a lot of back and forth with customer service, the initial problems were eventually resolved. Then we purchased the doorbell, which is definitely a piece of junk. First, it was extremely difficult to install because scanning the barcode was nearly impossible. Once we finally got it installed, it constantly lost connection and failed to record videos. We were told by SimpliSafe that we needed a WiFi booster to improve the connection. So, we spent even more money on a WiFi booster and installed it just a few feet away from the doorbell inside the house. The problem improved slightly but was still unreliable. Sometimes it detected motion; other times it didn’t. We spent countless hours on the phone with multiple customer support agents, none of whom were able to fix the issue. Eventually, they sent us a replacement—only for us to discover it was a refurbished unit (seriously?). Unsurprisingly, it still didn’t work. The final customer support person escalated the case to “higher-level” support. He had us check a few settings and told us he would monitor the doorbell’s performance for a week and then follow up with a call. Of course, there was no call. We have finally given up and will be switching to a different brand.

3 weeks in and the issues begin
3 weeks after setting mine up, several sensors just disconnected at once. Then an hour later another one, and later, another one. Their solution was to remove and add the sensors all over again, which is absolutely ridiculous. It also says Wi-Fi interference randomly now when there are no obstructions or devices in the way. What is the point of a security system you can’t rely on when you leave?

No wifi means no camera footage
Cameras don’t work if WiFi is disrupted. So if your criminal has half a brain like the ones that attacked my house last Tuesday, they’ll tamper with the internet connection first. SimpliSafe is garbage bc it only works if the criminals play by the rules. Good luck with that. Zero stars

Frustrating and Unhelpful Customer Service
On May 9, 2025, I decided to purchase a Simplisafe security system after hearing about several burglaries in my area. I spoke with Maria Evans, who told me they offer a DIY installation option. I explained that I am disabled, and she gave me the name of the only certified installer nearby, quoting a price of $150 for the installation. Maria said I would need to call the installer myself. Maria tried to contact the installer, but the call dropped. She called me back, gave me their number, and then suggested I could install the indoor camera myself. I told her that I wouldn't be able to install it correctly due to my disability, but she brushed off my concerns, saying, “Just place it on a flat surface, and the camera will capture the whole room." I reminded her that I was not comfortable doing this, but she insisted, "Well, I installed my own system, you shouldn’t have any problems." Maria then charged my debit card $321.13 and told me the next step would be to schedule the installation. I asked what would happen if the installer’s earliest availability was July 4th, and she told me there was another installer nearby who could do the work—but since they were not certified, Simplisafe wouldn’t guarantee the work would be done properly. I called the "certified" installer and was quoted $180 for installation—$30 more than I was told by Maria. The person I spoke to was uninterested and informed me that they had no availability. I was asked to call back in an hour, which I did, only to be left on hold for 20 minutes. Upon reviewing my invoice, I found several discrepancies. Despite telling Maria I only had two doors, she ordered 11 sensors for me. Maria had promised to expedite my order, but my system wasn’t shipped any faster than usual. Overall, this experience was incredibly frustrating, and I’m very disappointed with Simplisafe’s customer service.

Solar panel ineffective
I am on my second solar panel. It is installed on a south facing wall in sunny NYC yet my camera is inactive at least once a week and I am required to take the camera inside and fully charge it. The solar panel is supposed to keep the camera charged, but even with many more than the required 3 hours of sun, it does not work. Simplisafe refuses to refund my money even though their product doesn't work.
