Easy set-up
Easy set-up . Falls down just as easy. Tried to install the free camera. never got that to work.

The cameras and network settings suck
It claims that it works without wifi or relying on power during outages. For the base station, it has a cellular type of connection, so that’s true, but the actual components that need to connect to the base station rely on wifi. So if your wifi goes down, you are dead in the water. The components run on electricity with battery backups or batteries alone, but the electricity going out on a camera makes it useless because there’s no battery. If you need to use a wifi extender, like I do to reach from one end of the house to the other, then you have to place all cameras within the same wifi network as the base station or they won’t talk to one another. Oh, and the cameras! They only record 1 minute at a time. And you can’t view the video in realtime if you receive a motion alert because it’s recording. So if someone is causing motion at a camera, you get an alert, you open the app to check the camera to see if it’s a cat or a person and it tells you it can’t open the camera. Then a minute later, you can open it, but there’s nothing there. Then you back out to the recorded file on the timeline and you can see what it was, but it’s only one minute, the sound recordings aren’t equal, one camera is excellent sound, the other is muffled. I’m utterly disappointed by this system. So far the system I bought from harbor freight is better in my opinion for video. The sensors and such work fine, but the cameras are basically useless.

Customer Service -versus Service…
Customer Service was good, but the fact that there is no way to reboot the service without being there to remove the power cord and battery and reinstalling is disturbing. This is a pretty bad flaw for a lot of folks that use SimpliSafe for monitoring of remote properties. Were initially not even willing to refund monitoring fees for an alarm system that they can't connect with even though both the internet and phone service to the cabin is working fine as evidenced by my app adjustable thermostat and Arlo cameras.

The cameras need to be well with in the…
The cameras need to be well with in the range of your wifi. My biggest complaint is that i had to rest each camera if the wifi had any sort of glitch. Reseting includes holding a code infront of the camera within a few feet before it can be rest. I am an old man and some of the cameras require a ladder to do this. After hauling out the ladder for the third time in one day i returned the whole system. One good point is the customer service , once you get ahold of them, are very easy to deal with and gave me no problems with the return process.

Wrong choice...
Somewhat upset with SimpliSafe at the moment. For the last 5 week or more. Unable to view doorbell cam or indoor cam with my iPhone/iPad. Thinking I might have made the wrong choice when I purchased Simple Security System. Not happy!!

Doorbell and siren keeps on not working…
Doorbell and siten keeps on not working / working intermittently. False alarms from motion sensors. When alarm is trigered SS sends authoroties without asking. Also, you don’t get any intel needed for you to determine if dispatch is the right decision.

Unacceptable
Unacceptable, poor customer service, selling expensive equipment. My video Door Bell never did work properly. 15 to 23 minutes wait time for tech support and then get disconnected. My video Door bell is of now use.

1) a monumental coincidence
1) the day after a software update the monitoring center received alerts from a motion sensor and an entry sensor In the same room. Both alarms were false. I mentioned to tech support that it was a monumental coincidence for two sensors to false alarm at the exact same time. Their response was to send me two replacement sensors. 2) my doorbell camera and my inside camera won’t stay connected to my wifi network for more than an hour. I tested my inside camera by moving it to within 3 feet of my router but it still disconnects. This is a common problem described by many users on discussion forums. Simplisafe has yet to admit to a fundamental problem with the wifi component of their cameras.

Great at Surface Level, Ugly Beneath
Pros: - easy to set up - affordable w/o monthly service - looks sleek Cons: - seemingly dishonest corporate practices (below) - when i returned my doorbell which didn't work with my house, i did not receive my refund within two weeks. When I called, they found it hadn't been processed and it immediately issued. I had been warned by a previous customer support rep you have to call to get your refund issued. This was unfortunately confirmed in my experience. - when i called to cancel my monthly security subsciption, they offered me a reduced rate. One, I had to call to cancel (this should be online!) Two, if you can offer me a better rate, offer it at the beginning!

Very difficult to get a hold of customer service. Often on hold for over an hour, and sometimes do not get the opportunity to speak to anyone.

Continue to have issues with the doorbell
Continue to have issues with the doorbell. Cannot help without having to take doorbell off the wall and reset (which we have done at least a dozen times).

I've had them for over 5 years
I've had them for over 5 years. I called last year to see about another sensor on an entry door in garage. They said it would be fine, but when I installed, the connection never worked so had to disable. I thought it might be due to my old system, so when they sent me an email to upgrade to new system, I sent an email to them asking what I could do to upgrade considering I was heading to Florida for the winter. That was in December and I'm still waiting on a response. I'm thinking about going to Ring as an alternative.
