You Don’t Know What You Don’t Know
I purchased over $1,000 of SimpliSafe equipment several months ago. I did not know that the camera doorbell must be “wired”…which I do not have. It was advertised as a wireless system. It is for the most part BUT…
I did not order installation when I made my purchase. However, I called the SimpliSafe “partner” that does their installation service after my purchase. They do not perform wiring if you don’t already have it on an exiting doorbell. I’ve been told by an electrician that wiring will be difficult (which means costly).
I am physically unable to get on a ladder to place the interior and exterior motion detectors. The instructions for installation are almost non-existent…clear as mud. A lot is assumed about the degree of technical savvy of customers. Having worked in an IT environment, I can follow detailed directions, but without them? How do I see what my cameras see on the app at any given time? At what level should the cameras be placed? How do I adjust the viewing area of the camera? How do I install a second keypad? What happens when I press the panic button? Does SimpliSafe place a call to the police? I had planned to use their monitoring service, but who knows when that will happen.
If you place one of the stick-on window or door sensors incorrectly and try to move it-cha Ching! You must purchase another one, because it won’t work. I’m not at all happy about this. It has been my experience that SimpliSafe does not have good customer support. I haven’t received a single call from SimpliSafe to see if I needed assistance with installation or if I wanted their monitoring service. Extremely disappointed.
Request to Review A service that was cancelled over 2 years ago
This review request was just sent to me after I terminated my Simplisafe service almost 2 years ago. This alone shows that Simplisafe does not have a technology base that knows their current customers. I cancelled Simplisafe because they could not provide the products I requested. I called on three different occurrences to find the status of the products and was given a different answer each time. In the end they could not tell me when the products would arrive.
I really wanted to like SimpliSafe
I really wanted to like SimpliSafe, the concept of the system was great. I only had the system for about a month. The sensors kept failing and I personally didnt have the time to call in each time to have a technician help fix the issue. We never used the home mode, as I have a 12lb skinny Boston terrier that kept tripping the alarm with his movement. I called in for help and was left waiting for 3 hours on hold. Finally got to speak to a woman who was incredibly rude and standoffish, however she passed me on to someone else who ended up sending me a return shipping label. This was back in June 15, 2021. It is now a month and a half later and still no word about my refund. If someone could please update me on my return, I would be grateful. Thank you

I ordered a system that I put together on the Simplisafe site. I wanted a couple of extra cameras and my system came with one, so three in total. I misread the pricing for my order and called customer support to get it straightened out. I was on hold waiting for a human to get on the phone for, literally, 38 MINUTES!! It's as if there's only 1 employee at the company and she was busy with 200 other customers.
Anyway, my system arrived and I installed everything with no problems at all..... until it came to the cameras. The cameras are connected to the Simplisafe base unit via wi-fi. When Trying to install the first camera, I had the camera on my kitchen island, plugged into the same outlet as my Netgear wi-fi extender.... not more than a foot from the camera. It wouldn't stay connected to wi-fi. It took installing & un-installing the camera 5 times before it took. The other 2 cameras were about the same.
After the cameras were "installed" to the system, I placed them where I want them to capture video. I have a camera about 17 feet from my wi-fi extender; a camera about 10 feet from the main wi-fi router; and the third camera about 15 feet from the main wi-fi router. NONE of these cameras will maintain a connection to wi-fi. If I want to watch live video of what my dogs are doing in the middle of the day, from my desktop computer at my office, I'm lucky to get 15 seconds of actual images, then the message comes up that the camera lost internet connectivity. It's the same if it records video based on a motion activity. I go to watch the video and there's about 10 seconds of actual footage before the message comes up that it didn't record the event because it lost connectivity.
I don't know how well the rest of the system will actually work if needed. The door sensors work every time the doors are open or closed. the extra siren makes noise when we arm & disarm the system. I don't know about the smoke detectors yet. The key fob remotes work, although it took 2 weeks for them to arrive after the system did. But if you're planning to purchase a Simplisafe system for yourself, don't waste the money buying extra cameras because they're pure FECES!

I returned the equipment months ago. The customer service and tech support was below subpar. I could not get the equipment to work in my house and all of the deals I was promised never happened. I will never ever use your equipment or service again in any house or property I own.
Your customer service is terrible
Your customer service is terrible. As a company, you should be embarrassed by how you treat your monthly subscribers. I have a SimpliSafe system in a 1000 sqft house. On a weekly basis, I get multiple alerts about random devices not connecting. For the last month, it's been the Siren. I've reset the device, reinstalled it into the system, changed the batteries etc. I've called your "customer support" line multiple times. The first 2 times I was on hold for 30 minutes and no one picked up. The last time, I was on hold for 23 minutes when someone picked up, but they had to transfer me to the trouble shooting division. I was on hold for another 40 minutes, where the original person would occasionally pick up and say that I was next in line. After an hour and no one picked up, I finally had to hang up, as I had to leave my house. I still don't have a working siren. So, I basically have a security system that would beep at an intruder. Everytime I see one of your cute commercials with "Robert" talking about how great your service is, it disgusts me. I am extremely unsatisfied with my SimpliSafe purchase and your abysmal customer service.

No one ever answered the line. Why are you sending a survey then? SimpliSafe service used to be beyond reproach. Sad that the company has joined the ranks of the inept.

I like the customer service the easy set up but. Ours continuously goes off were in the middle of nowhere we have trouble shot the problem and it just goes off. Also when the sensors go offline i have to drivew 3 hrs to reset them manuely
I would never recommend SimpliSafe
I would never recommend SimpliSafe. I placed an order online for about $650 worth of security equipment. Most of the equipment that I ordered was not even available, but of course I was never told that until after I was already charged for it. When I called for help to understand why I was able to order equipment that was ‘not available’ I could not get a clear answer and I was informed that there was no expected delivery date for the missing pieces. Then I discovered a few days later that I was DOUBLE CHARGED for my order!!! Apparently the person trying to help me over the phone resubmitted my order! I had to fight to get a refund on both orders. Do not order SimpliSafe!

So many false alarms that I pay for monitoring but can no longer allow the police to be dispatched or I am fined by the city. Get constant notifications when I am away of different equipment going offline. This equipment is nothing but junk.

Totally worthless if you live in a rural area.......don't waste your money. It's an internet capacity hog! IF you live in a rural area, it's not a commodity that is available. We can stream videos and run multiple internet connections all day long, but our internet doesn't support the door bell, much less a camera or the door sensors.

I’ve been trying to get ahold of customer service for two weeks now. To no avail trying to change my service and was on hold for 45 minutes each time. So that’s an hour and a half from my life without Resolving any of the issues I’ve had

Never received replacement for faulty water sensor
Our water sensor went off when we had some water but then continued to go off even when it was dry. Always middle of the night. Called Simplisafe for help; waited over an hour to get an agent who said they would send a new sensor which never arrived. Very frustrating.
I can't get the camera to stay on. Worthless system.
I can't get the camera to stay connected. I have tried a million ways to Sunday, have it on a 2.4 internet line, have reset it a million times and it is useless. Have called for support -- works for a little while and then disconnects.
Super disappointed. System is not worth the $$ despite all the reviews.
The support from SimpliSafe has gone Bad
The support from SimpliSafe has gone from Very Good to Terrible. Very long hold times and although they suggest you email in the problems for support the respond back after several days that they can’t assist in technical issues via email. i can’t even reach them to cancel orders or service. AWEFUL
Refund of Shipping Costs
Ordered the Smart Lock. 3-5 business days delivery with Priority Mail. 2 weeks go by, no lock. Contact SS, the order is finally shipped and arrives. I query whether there will be a refund of the priority shipping costs due to their oversight. SS reaches out and tells me I have to call them to confirm I have an account. Why? Whether I have one (I do) or not, is irrelevant. You have the order, the order number, information and card on file. If you intend to refund the shipping costs, simply do so.

Lousy install, never worked, countless hours on the phone with simplisafe and their installers, to no avail and finally, I had their installer box the whole thing up after he removed everything, and I sent it all back to simplisafe, for a refund.

Inferior equipment
Inferior equipment. Indoor camera and doorbell camera would not connect. After trying several workarounds with technical support with no luck. Confirmed internet settings were ok. New cameras were sent by the company. Again, equipment didn’t work.
The fact that technical support had these workarounds is a clue to how poor the equipment is.
A copetitors equipment is working just fine.
