My water sensor is not working
My water sensor is not working, it has been on back order with no indication of when I will get it. Customer service has not provided updates.

Been during business with them for more than 6-7 years and happy with them but recently, not so good. technical assistance, replacement parts, knowledge of product.

Prone to malfunction and bad service
Their devices are prone to breaking or not working, especially the door keypad and lock. I will wait on hold for and hour to get a fix and be treated poorly. Whatever device will then work for a few more days before giving out again. If we hadn’t already spent so much on our system we would have switch providers by now but for now it will at least call the police if someone breaks in.

I was told I had 60 days from signing…
I was told I had 60 days from signing up to return my purchase and then when I tried to, they said it was from the day of purchase and told me I'd have to sell it on Ebay or something. It's still sitting in the box. I bought it before Christmas.

Faulty product and bad customer service
The product kept sounding the alarm when nothing should be triggering it and then not notifying me the alarm was going off. When I called to return the customer service was horrible. Horrible.

Trying to reach simply safe by phone is impossible and then email or chat they are unable to make changes to the account. Very disappointing.

You need more people
You need more people. I was on hold for a long time waiting to tell someone not to call the police or my contacts. So long that the police were called and my neighbor too. My motion detector is constantly trigger my alarm so I can’t use the away feature. I have a dog and I set it up 4 feet off the floor with the sensor up but it still goes off. I’m very unhappy.

I’ve had numerous technical issues…
I’ve had numerous technical issues since joining, and have had to spend hours on the phone seeking remedy for equipment issues. Someone should have warned about the impact of having a metal door also. I’m not confident that if a breach ever happens, this system will alert and dispatch properly.

I requested the installation services…
I requested the installation services for setting up the video door bell. The guy came and looked like a disheveled homeless person that was living out of his vehicle. He could hardly see and acted like he had no idea where to start. First thing he wanted to do was go to his car with the device and “charge” it. I questioned what he was talking about…and IF it needs to be charged…can’t that be done in my house. He insisted he had to do this in his car…would only take about 20 minutes. So, feeling like I was being slimed, not getting any sense out of him, I had to beg him to please hand back over the door bell device and told him to leave. Thankfully I was not charged for that, but then I returned everything to SimpliSafe for the guaranteed full refund and was NOT given the complete amount. I had to call and question the reason why…with no logical answer given. They did finally send the remaining amount…but what a crazy experience and way of doing business!!!

Bait & Switch monitoring plans
When I purchased my SimpliSafe system last year, a big factor in my considering simply safe over other brands was that your website offered a plan for self monitoring for roughly $.33 per day which stated that it would alert me by phone/text whenever my system was breached. After receiving and installing my security system, and contacting your representatives by phone to purchase the plan I wanted , I continually was told that that plan did not exist, even though I was looking at it with my very own eyes on your website. I probably made half a dozen requests/calls to simply safe representatives in an effort to purchase the plan you advertised on your website, but to no avail. Each time I spoke with a representative and direct them to your website, they all stated that they could not see such a plan.

I wanted to like it…..
I wanted to like it, the reviews seemed good. The hardware arrived and right away I noticed it felt pretty cheap. The keypads especially. That was the first straw. The camera selection is extremely limited. That was the second straw, but I did know that going in. I started connecting the sensors and getting them added to the system using the web app. I kept getting errors connecting to simplisafe in the app. That was the third and final straw. An alarm system has to work and not give errors or have trouble connecting. The best part about it was how simple they make it to box up and send back! That part was smooth.

Purchase experience was so poor I returned the system unopened
My initial purchase experience and subsiquent interaction was so poor that I returned the system - unopened. Based on that experience of course I certainly didn't want to rely on the company in the future. At least the refund process worked. That's something I guess.

Competitors offer much better systems
I have had a SimpliSafe system for 2 years now. I have every type of sensor and option they offer: motion, door, glass break, water leak detection, temp detection, smoke alarms, carbon monoxide alarms, external siren, smart locks, multiple keypads, and 4 cameras. Pros: System is easy to set up. Monitoring center is usually pretty quick to call when the alarm is tripped in away mode. Support/warranty have been good. Cons: Wireless sensors are easily defeated (google lock picking lawyer SimpliSafe). System lacks smart home integrations (Alexa, Google, IFTTT, etc.) unlike their competition. App just has basic features. Monitoring center does not always call to verify everything is okay if the alarm is set to home mode and then is triggered. Monitoring center has never called when smoke alarms have been triggered. Resolution on cameras is lacking. Does not offer water valve shut-off device, only leak detection sensors. Does not offer a wireless camera option like Ring or Blink. Does not offer waterproof door sensors for gates, sheds, etc. One keypad completely died after just one year of use (SimpliSafe did replace it free of charge). No new sensors or options have been added in the last two years. Company does not seem to innovate. Obviously, the cons outweigh the pros by a great margin. If I had not made such a large initial investment in the system, I would have switched to a competitor already. I cannot recommend SimpliSafe at all.

Lousy Customer Service / Misleading info re 24 hour monitoring
When I ceased using the 24 hour monitoring, I was told the app interface would remain the same. Then the app ceased working. I called and was told they accidentally suspended my account and restarted it. But the app functions still didn't work, including the camera. After hours on the phone with customer service across multiple calls, the camera works, but nothing else on the app. Was told someone has to get back to me. Glad I didn't hold my breath. It's been a month.

One objective was to have remote access…
One objective was to have remote access while away for travel. Signed up for monitoring but a few days later while on the road the camera did not work. Customer service suggested i unplug and try again which was accomplished with help from others which did not help. Sine it never worked I asked for a refund of the monitoring chares to no avail. Now looking for an alternative with a cellular setup.

Nine minutes on hold during alarm event
Install was easy, but customer service is not good. After I missed a call due to motion detected, I called back to say it was false alarm. I was on hold for NINE minutes. Cops and fire showed up, wasting their resources. If this were an emergency and needed to speak with dispatch, nine minutes is life and death. I requested to speak with someone regarding this issue, I was told they would reach out within the hour, never heard from anybody.
